Boris Godunov - Modest Moessorgski, De Nationale Opera

About

Boris Godunov, the opera by Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky (1839–1881), explores the impact of power and how far someone might go to obtain it. This new production is directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, also a filmmaker, who brings a contemporary take on the story, inspired by his own experiences in Russia. The performance features the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conducted by Vasily Petrenko, and the powerful chorus of the Dutch National Opera. In the title role, the acclaimed Tomasz Konieczny makes his debut with the company, delivering a performance known for both vocal strength and strong stage presence.
